Role Overview
As an AI/ML Research Scientist at Roblox, you will work across highly specialized teams to drive innovation in generative AI, multimodal learning, 3D foundational modeling, recommendation systems, content safety, and large-scale distributed infrastructure. You will bridge research and production by developing experimental models, publishing breakthrough findings, and converting cutting-edge research into deployable solutions that enhance personalization, creativity, monetization, and user safety at scale on a global platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Experiment with and prototype advanced AI, ML, and 3D computation technologies to address complex, large-scale problems.
- Translate research into real-world production features in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Build and optimize models powering search, recommendation, monetization, safety, content moderation, and immersive experiences.
- Contribute to core technological advancements in areas such as recommender systems, distributed systems, real-time inference, and multimodal AI.
- Strengthen platform capabilities supporting creators, advertisers, and users through generative modeling, LLM-based systems, reinforcement learning, and structured data understanding.
Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or holding a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, Reinforcement Learning, Distributed Systems, or related fields.
- Deep expertise in at least one core research domain relevant to Roblox (e.g., LLMs, Generative AI, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, 3D Modeling, Safety Models, Distributed Infrastructure).
- Strong programming proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, C++, Go, or Java.
