Role Overview

As a Data Scientist at Thoughtworks, you will lead and execute data science projects that drive measurable business outcomes. You will leverage advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI techniques to deliver impactful insights, design AI systems, and support the development of ethical, transparent, data-driven solutions. Collaborating across teams, you’ll play a key role in fostering a culture of data literacy while ensuring quality, compliance, and business alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage data science projects from inception to completion, ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align data solutions with business objectives.
  • Frame problems, design AI systems, and oversee governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Develop and deploy data science strategies that deliver tangible business impact.
  • Design experiments to test assumptions, refine models, and guide future actions.
  • Build, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models using robust quality metrics.
  • Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Champion data ethics, FATTER AI principles (fairness, accountability, transparency, trustworthiness, explainability, responsibility).
  • Work with CD4ML practices, data versioning, and MLOps.
  • Mentor and coach team members while promoting data literacy across the organization.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, ML, deep learning, and optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent tools; ability to write production-ready code.
  • Experience in at least one AI specialization (e.g., NLP, Computer Vision, Generative AI).
  • Data preprocessing, wrangling, and integration of structured/unstructured data.
  • Ability to design and validate robust models using appropriate evaluation metrics.
  • Experience deploying models into production environments.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and ethical AI practices.
