Job Title: Manager – Technical Support Engineering

Eligibility: Prior experience in technical support or engineering leadership, with hands-on exposure to Linux, programming/scripting, troubleshooting, and people management.

Role Overview:

As a Manager of Technical Support Engineering at Datadog, you will lead and mentor a team of Technical Support Engineers (TSEs), ensuring successful client issue resolution, productivity, and professional development. You will act as both a technical and people leader—guiding escalations, driving initiatives to improve team processes, and partnering with leadership on performance, training, and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, and mentor a team of Technical Support Engineers.
  • Oversee accountability, performance reviews, and employee development plans.
  • Drive onboarding, training, certifications, and continuous learning for team members.
  • Create and maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and technical resources.
  • Lead projects or initiatives to improve team productivity, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers on escalations, providing guidance on resolution.
  • Partner with upper management to align team performance with organizational goals.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in people management and/or team mentorship.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
  • Solid problem-solving and client-centric decision-making approach using data insights.
  • Technical background with basic knowledge of Linux and some programming/scripting experience.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or involvement in engineering/tech communities (preferred).
